The building was too small for the number of pupils,other places around the town were used.Wye House for music,The Congregational Hall for assembly,an old Nissan Hut down Elcot Lane for woodwork .The Christmas carol service was held in St Mary’s Church and the B set Social in the Masonic Hall . Even before the new school was fully finished some lessons meant a traipse up there ,like for geography . The old geography room was at the front western side and had a huge relief contour map of the Marlborough area that my parents said was made by the geography teacher that taught them. And I remember a globe of the earth in blackboard material hanging from pulleys from the ceiling,so it could be lowered and the white outlines of countries added to with chalk inscriptions.
